Video: Lucky Daye - Over

The video for Lucky Daye’s newest song, “Over,” which also tells a tale, has been officially published. This past weekend in the Bay Area, he performed the song for the first time at the 2021 Lights On Fest. Musiq Soulchild’s 2002 song “Halfcrazy,” off his second album, Juslisen, is sampled within the first few seconds for the fans’ enjoyment.

Daye is shown getting ready to perform for no one in the video, which features entrepreneur and influencer Jordyn Woods. He moves through the theater while being pursued by photographers and fans who are pulling and tugging at him from all sides. As he sings, “’cause I thought it was over/got me thinking my feelings over/you keep doing it over and over/you keep calling me back,” his physical appearance radically changes while he is surrounded by mirrors.

While he fights internally, Woods keeps a close eye on him and holds a watch in his hand as if to keep him on track. Nightmares became dreams, he sings, “If you’re so toxic to me, what am I fuming?” He is eventually left standing on stage in silk boxers, puzzled and stunned as she exits.

Daye exclusively revealed to VIBE when we enquired about his most recent single that he “can’t tell you too much [with a laugh] but [it’s] on the new album,” and that the second single—which he also debuted at Lights On Fest—has a feature.
