Video: J. Cole - Heaven's EP

J. Cole, a legend from Fayetteville, North Carolina, has surprised his fans by releasing “Heaven’s EP” as a single and a music video.

Before starting his 20-date nationwide tour in support of his sixth solo album, The Off-Season, which was released earlier this year, Cole will be touring with two of the hottest musicians in the business: 21 Savage of Atlanta and Morray, a rapper and vocalist from Fayetteville.

According to the newest song and music video, Cole is contemplating the weight of his celebrity and the value of his family above everything else. When compared to Drake’s reflections (whose Certified Lover Boy “Pipe Down” beat Cole borrowed for this particular song), Cole’s observations aren’t really that different—they’re just coming from the opposite side of the same coin.

Cole waxes lyrical about a family man with ideas on fame in this passage.Drake articulates the same from the perspective of a single dad with a young son to raise and a crew to support. It’s family with varying degrees of tension, creativity, and competition. All of these insights are crucial and appreciated, as “Heaven’s EP” graphically depicts Cole’s rhymes as he most likely perceives them. Remain on that path.
