Gunna A Gift & A Curse Album
If Gunna meant what he said with “Bread & Butter,” then his most recent album, A Gift & A Curse, is a deep dive. Because he accepted a plea deal in YSL’s RICO case, the Atlanta rapper has his back against the wall. After so many people have turned their backs on him, there is an audible pain in his voice. Even though he still writes boastful lyrics, the melancholy production makes it sound more like self-assurance than an attempt to manipulate others. The fact that Gunna has not “lost it” can be inferred from the songs’ lyricism, adaptability, catchy melodies, and great hooks.

There has been a narrative that, for some strange reason, Gunna is making a comeback album, despite the fact that throughout his entire career, he has only produced high-quality work. It should come as no surprise that standouts include “Back To The Moon,” “Paybach,” “Bottom,” “Turned Your Back,” and “Alright.” One of the best artists of the last five years has always done this. It is unfortunate that he is being criticized in this manner for acting in the best interest of his freedom. He has thus far discovered that freedom to be both a gift and a curse.
