Video: Offset – FAN

Offset recently dropped new music videos for his song “Fan.”

The rapper imitates some of Michael Jackson’s most recognisable looks throughout the video, channelling his inner Michael Jackson in the process. By dressing like the “King of Pop” from his “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal” videos, the set draws inspiration from MJ’s Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad periods.

Offset also manages to smuggle in a reference to Michael Jackson’s illustrious Motown 25 performance, where he performed the Moonwalk on stage for the first time ever. The performer referred to the video and his next album as “healing” in an official press release. “This body of work is healing for me and a letter to my fans and supporters,” he said.

The song’s lyrics discuss a relationship that seems to be in trouble. He sings about a lost love at the beginning of the song in a melodic rap delivery. But as the verse goes on, Set turns his focus to his detractors.
