Video: Andra Day – Forever Mine

In her most recent music video, “Forever Mine,” Andra Day is seen living her life inside of a glass box.

Day can be seen in the music video belting out songs about a deepened spiritual connection and her search to find a love that would last forever while all eyes are—or aren’t—on her. The music video was directed by Spike Lee, who first heard Day sing at the “What Happened Miss Simone?” homage at the Sundance Film Festival this year.

Day believes that her artwork is reflective of actual life. “The box is a representation of my safe haven. “That box [is] that space where all of my creativity comes to me,” she stated in a press release. “When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is pray, confess, and be still.” “After that, I observe life and other individuals moving through that area. I’ve realised that the most effective things are those that are the simplest. You can get your point across with relatively few words.
