Video: Swizz Beatz – 25 Soldiers ft. Young Thug

When your favourite musicians give their followers not one but two presents at once, it is always a special occasion. Swizz Beatz is turning up the heat on the competition with his new single “25 Soldiers,” which features the ATL torchbearer Young Thug. The tune and its accompanying music video were both released at the same time.

The music video was directed by Vincent Lou Film and takes place in an abandoned warehouse, which serves as a musical sanctuary for Swizz and Thug. Thugger is virtually unrecognisable on the actual track, as his rhymes hit harder and flowed clearer than they do on a handful of his releases that are now flooding the scene with music. Swizz, on the other hand, is relegated to the background and offers only a few vocal contributions. Think of it as his method of allowing Thug to take the spotlight.

“25 Soldiers” is the second single to be released from Poison, which will be released in a little over a month. Swizzy dropped by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio before the album’s release to talk about the making of Poison and open up about his return to the fundamentals of producing music. This interview took place before the album’s release.

Swizz advised Lowe, “I feel that you must always revisit what people really know you for and show them that you are still a master at that craft, and then take them on a journey where you’re going to go from there,” Swizz told Lowe. “I feel that you must always revisit what people really know you for and show them that you are still a master at that craft.”

Poison is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 2nd. The ten-track project will have executive production from J. Cole, and will contain guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Pusha T, and others. Play “25 Soldiers” for yourself up top while you wait for the whole project to drop.
