It would appear that Bootsy Collins and Kali Uchis have fantastic chemistry together. Following their recent collaboration on the singer’s current single “After the Storm” starring Tyler, the Creator, Collins recruited Uchis to direct the music video for their first song together, “Worth the While,” which can be found on Collins’ funk-filled album World Wide Funk.
The alluring music video starts off with Bootsy, who is wearing a fluffy fur coat and his characteristic star spectacles, and Kali Uchis exchanging lines over a sultry slow jam that is powered by a psychedelic guitar and colourful synths. As Uchis and Bootsy sing the chorus, the visual features a number of dancing couples who look to be enjoying the slow-burning lover’s anthem.
“The search for another love has the potential to drive a person insane. Therefore, the question that needs to be asked is, “Is it Worth My While?” Collins has stated this to HipHopDX. “Out of love, pain, and the desire to make your life meaningful with a true purpose,” the songwriter said, “that’s where the song comes from.”
The previous year saw the release of Bootsy’s album, which included an impressive roster of guests including Big Daddy Kane, Musiq Soulchild, Doug E. Fresh, and many more.
