Video: Bas – Tribe Ft J.Cole

Bas and J. Cole team together to release “Tribe,” the second single off Milky Way, the upcoming album by Bas. “Tribe” features an extremely smooth strum and a tune loaded with shakers.

Bas eventually released the widely awaited joint tune early in the morning of August 22nd, three days after it was first revealed the previous Thursday (16 August). Bas delivers the first verse of the song, in which he raps about a woman who is a gift from God and who motivates him to continue working hard, before Cole comes in on the beat and spits lyrics about his rise to fame.

His lyrics go as follows: “God shuffled the cards, dealt me a hand with impossible odds/ Put an obstacle course up/ Look, and I conquered them all (conquered them all)”

The “Boca Raton” rapper spent a week in Lagos, Nigeria soaking up all of the island vibes, and according to Bas, the video for the feel-good track was shot in Miami’s Little Haiti when he returned from his trip.

This is the third formal collaboration between the head of the record label and his signee, following “Night Job,” “New York Times,” and “My N***a Just Made Bail.” Milky Way will serve as the follow-up to Bas’s previous studio album, Too High To Riot, and will be made available for purchase on Friday, August 24.
