Son Little, also known as Aaron Livingston, is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia. He drew the late afternoon Sasquatch! crowd to a pin-drop quiet with his stripped-bare acoustic concert on the VIBE stage in the Toyota Music Den.
The performance of “Your Love Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches” from Little’s self-titled debut album with Anti-Records was filmed by us, and it is both eerie and emotional. Livingston capitalizes on his origins in Philly soul, but the album has more in common with Delta blues because Livingston sings about rivers, floods, and loser’s blues. Little offers a melancholy lament on the track “Your Love Will Blow Me Away Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches,” which can be described as a raw and ragged epistle to love lost.
The performance was eerie and energizing despite the absence of any background percussion. When supporters were getting close to being completely worn out from the four-day weekend, Livingston’s cries caused the throng to start moving more slowly and close their eyes in rapture because they could feel his suffering.
