The game plan for Jay Rock has been finalised. With the TDE Championship Tour well underway, the next big thing to come out of the California rap collective will be Jay Rock’s Redemption, which will be released on June 15 and is the follow-up to his album 90059, which was released in 2015. After giving fans with the outstanding song “King’s Dead” during Black Panther’s roll out during Black History Month, he revived the spirit with the release of a new song, “Win,” three months later.
Today (May 30), in an effort to maintain the forward momentum, Rock has at long last made available the accompanying music video for the single, which was directed by Dave Myers and Dave Free. The song is filled to the brim with proudly melanated moments, just like his other work, and it features his labelmate Kendrick Lamar, who is also featured on the song. It may be seen in the large number of women with brown skin tones who have achieved positions of authority, intelligence, and strength, wearing hair styles ranging from afros to straightened locks. It is clear from the clothing choices of both sexes: Jay and K. Dot are stylishly dressed up like your boss’s boss, while the majority of the women are dressed to command respect. It is at that moment that his entire TDE crew appears behind him, clothed in complete black as the omen requires.
Regardless of how casual some of the lyrics may sound, the scenes have allusions to black power and militant ideologies. These allusions weave their way into the scenes. And most importantly, the first artist signed by TDE brings both style and substance to the forefront of his bars.
