In the new music video for “23” that was released on Tuesday (October 2), Jacquees brags about his independence. After gaining notoriety through a succession of cover songs, extended plays, and mixtapes, Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, better known by his stage name Jacquees, is currently promoting a song that is featured on his debut studio album, 4275.
“23” is a highlight track that harkens back to the R&B of the early 2000s and features modern soul and R&B artist Donnell Jones, who also contributed to the production of the song. In addition, he has a role in the video that lasts for five minutes.
The former SoundCloud artist and current Cash Money associate starts off the clip in a laundry, where he sees a gorgeous woman he would like to pursue as a romantic interest. As the clips continue, Jones and the singer from “B.E.D.” appear in front of an illuminated number 23 while the singer who was born in Georgia discusses how she is too young for a committed relationship. The older version of the singer from “U Know What’s Up” takes a moment out of the music video to offer his younger counterpart some words of wisdom about navigating life as a single person.
This video was uploaded exactly one week after his “Quemix” of Ella Mai’s “Trip” was removed from the internet for violating copyright regulations.
The singer, who is now 24 years old, is no longer 23, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that he has evolved his perspective on the idea of being in a committed relationship.
